.ISO files are files disk images that when burnt off, give readable data that a computer can interpret. .Iso 's are almost entirely used for game installations, but can be used for almost anything.
Apart from the obvious fact that buying blank dvds actually costs money, it also takes time and some people dont even have dvd burners. Instead i use software called Daemon Tools (I have linked to the free version which I use). Daemon tools gives you a little icon in your system tray, that when clicked, provides four virtual disks. Once you have your Iso downloaded, click that icon and pick one of the drives (it doesnt really matter which). It should open up a new window with all your file paths in it. Navigate through to the Iso file and select it. This will "mount" the disk image to a virtual disk. After a few seconds the newly readable files will open up. Follow your installer and it will work fine.

BUT, to play a game, 99% of the time, a "crack" will be included in the .Iso. A crack is a copy of the game's original .exe file with the part where it asks for the key code provided with purchase, removed. This is also where most people new to torrenting, slip up. So i have provided a step by step guide.
1) Open up "my documents"
2) Find the location where your "mounted" disks are.
3) open up the mounted .iso you used to previously install the game
4) Usually the folder will be called either "Crack" or the name of the cracker (i.e Skidrow)
5) copy all the files inside that folder
6) go to your c: drive and then to program files.
7) Find the installation directory for the game you just installed. It will usually be the name of the games developer.
8) Paste the files you copied into the installation directory, and overwrite the original files.
9) Play the game.
Notes:
Sometimes different crack methods are required, these will almost always be explained by the uploader, if not, then check the comments.
Cracks hardly ever let you use online play on proper servers. But for games like CoD, Cracked servers exist.
It might be a good idea to keep the original .exe files from the directories in a separate folder, incase you ever need them.
Some games have multiple Iso's. They will be numbered, so mount number one, start the install, wait until it prompts you to put in disk 2, unmount the first .Iso, and mount the second in the same place you did the first.
Dont run the game until you have put the crack in place.
